HOW DO I GET A GIG AT THE CAFE?
To start the process, holla at us with the entry form below – only complete submissions will be considered. The more information you send us, the quicker you will hear back, guaranteed. If we like what we hear we’ll be in touch. Due to the overwhelming amount of booking inquiries we receive, we are not able to respond to every request.
HOW MUCH DO YOU PAY MUSICIANS?
All nights pay $100. Each performer gets two band tickets which are each good for any one food item on the menu or one alcoholic beverage worth $10 or less. Feel free to keep a tip jar on the stage and announce its presence, but we’d ask that you refrain from ‘passing the hat’.
CAN I SELL MERCHANDISE?
Yep. T shirts, CDs.. the works. Go crazy!
WHAT IS THE ROOM CAPACITY?
We have capacity for 95 or so.
DO YOU HAVE A SOUND SYSTEM?
Due to the size of the room and our restaurant operations, we do not allow amplifiers. All equipment must be plugged directly into our PA by our sound man. No exceptions. Our equipment consists of two powered speakers, two monitors, a PA with 12 inputs, and 3 microphones with stands. Should you require additional equipment, please bring it along with you including cables to connect to our PA.
WHAT IS THE SET TIME/LENGTH?
Load in is at 8PM. Show runs from 9PM – midnight.
HOW LARGE IS YOUR STAGE?
Our stage is 11′ x 8′. For the safety of our staff and our patrons, all equipment and performers must fit on the stage.
ARE BANDS ALLOWED?
Sure. We ask that you be aware of the space that you are performing in. For example, some performers have featured drums, but the drums have to be muffled. We would like our neighbors to continue to love us!
HOW ABOUT HAVING AN OPENER?
In general, we do not book ‘slots’. Historically it has worked really well when bands put together shows with like-minded acts. Shared email lists, fans, Facebook activity, equipment, etc. all make for a more successful show. Should you like to have someone open for you, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can approve it. Please provide as much information as possible, including links to any band websites.
IS THERE A DRESS CODE?
No dress code, we love bands sporting all different types of fashion! We do ask that shirts and shoes do stay on at all times – we are still a restaurant 🙂
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO PROMOTE OURSELVES IN YOUR AREA?
Social media is a great start! Create an event for your show on Facebook and share it with us. We’ll make sure to promote the event as well. Destination Salem (www.salem.org) has a calendar. Fliers are great too.
